The Valdeón Valley is located in the North of the province of León and close to the province limit with Asturias and the Picos de Europa. In order to get there we must cross the Puerto de Panderruedas (1459 m / 4786 f.) or the Puerto de Pandetrave (1558m / 5111 f). From the valley you can have access to the Macizo Occidental (El Cornión) and the Macizo Central (Urrieles), both belonging to the Picos de Europa.

In this valley you can also find the well-known Cares River Route, which unites the village of Caín in León and Puente Poncebos, in Asturias. The itinerary runs parallel to the Cares, the area’s wildest river, and it coves 11km (6,83 miles) over easy terrain.
